Evolving from the traditional 'press-clipping' services, media monitoring services survey traditional in-print plus online and social media for references to their clients and their clients' products/services. Not only do companies use the services to track their own media exposure as a means of measuring their PR activities, but often they will also use them to track the exposure of competitors.
