The 10 Year Infrastructure Strategy published on 19th June will deliver on the Government’s growth mission, as part of the Plan for Change, transforming how infrastructure projects are planned and delivered.

The Strategy sets out a long-term plan for how the government will invest in infrastructure and ensure that funding is spent effectively and efficiently, marking a new approach to how projects are planned and delivered. The plans are supported by significant government funding, estimated at £725 billion of over the coming decade, from which at least £9 billion will be allocated in 2025-26

Project Pipeline

National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA) is the agency advising the UK Government on infrastructure delivery and improvement and the NISTA Infrastructure Pipeline will provide a dynamic list of infrastructure and construction projects and programmes being progressed and planned over a ten-year period, giving information about each investment with details of its schedule, status and anticipated spend.

The core purpose of the Pipeline is to enable the construction supply chain to plan ahead with greater confidence, strengthening capacity and capability and speeding up infrastructure delivery. It will include significant project granularity, clarity around funding status and will provide a more regularly updated digital output. Visibility of upcoming projects will ensure that it becomes a critical tool for the supply chain and has been designed to meet the needs of industry, including suppliers. The July 2025 iteration is the first stage in the Pipeline’s development,

The Pipeline will be launched as a digital online product, with an interactive dashboard. It will provide details of capital and maintenance costs for infrastructure and construction projects with a total cost of £25 million or more for economic infrastructure (including Transport, Utilities and Energy) and £15 million or more for social infrastructure (such as Education and Health). Where projects do not meet the threshold, they may be represented as part of a programme of smaller projects.
