A leading UK builders’ merchant, Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, which supplies building materials and services, is launching Season 2 of its acclaimed, industry-first podcast: The 1840 Podcast. The podcast continues to highlight the people, milestones and values that define one of the UK’s most established merchanting businesses.

Launched in January 2025, the podcast was created to extend communication beyond annual events and engage both internal teams and external audiences. It has quickly grown into a powerful brand asset, giving a voice to employees while showcasing the company’s heritage.

The second season is due to launch in September, with episode 1 going live on the 8th.

Series 1 set a new benchmark in the merchanting sector with episodes such as The History of Howarth, where Managing Director Nick Howarth shared personal insights into the company’s legacy. Other episodes, including A Day in the Life of a Regional Manager and Women in Merchanting, highlighted resilience and determination, reflecting the personal and professional challenges employees face.

The series will continue to celebrate colleagues and bring employees closer together, maintaining the informal and engaging tone that has resonated with listeners.
